Are Dental Implants Right for You?

To see if dental implants are a viable option for your smile, there are a few things our periodontists will look at. Things like adequate bone volume, the status of your periodontal tissue, and your overall medical status will all be considered.

However, we often take patients that other practices don’t. So, if you’ve experienced bone loss or are concerned about whether you can get dental implants—don’t worry. There are different things we can do to help you achieve the smile you’re wanting, like bone grafting, that can make dental implants more attainable.

Our periodontists have extensive training and experience that leads to beautiful results for our dental implant patients.

The Dental Implant Process

Before we do anything, we’ll sit down with you for a thorough consultation and take a CBCT scan—a detailed 3D image that shows us your bone density, anatomy, and anything nearby we need to work around. All of that shapes your surgical plan. Then, if needed, we can use guided placement technology to make the procedure as precise as possible.

Once the implant is in, your body will heal on its own. The titanium post gradually fuses with your surrounding bone in a process called osseointegration. This healing phase usually takes somewhere between three and six months, depending on your bone quality and overall health. When we’ve confirmed everything has integrated properly, we attach the abutment and place your final restoration, whether that’s a crown, a bridge, or a full arch prosthetic.

Follow-up is built into our care plan. We’ll monitor how you’re healing and make sure any small concerns get addressed early, so you’re feeling confident throughout your recovery period.

Dental Implant Benefits

Implants are the only tooth replacement modality that addresses both the visible tooth and the underlying bone. By acting as an artificial root that stimulates the jawbone, the implant prevents bone resorption. Bone deterioration can lead to a sunken facial look over time. Implants preserve your face’s natural structure, helping you maintain a more youthful appearance.

From a functional standpoint, implants restore full chewing function, allow you expand your dietary choices, and only require hygiene and daily maintenance that is similar to how you care for your natural teeth. There are no removable components, no adhesives, and no progressive changes in fit over time.

Common Questions

It depends on your coverage. Many insurance policies classify implants as a major restorative procedure and may cover a portion of the crown or preparatory procedures, but not the implant post itself. Annual benefit maximums further limit what insurance will contribute in a given year.

We recommend reviewing your specific policy and speaking with our administrative team before your consultation. Coverage varies by individual policy, and we are glad to assist you in understanding your benefits.

Implant cost is case-dependent and varies based on the number of implants, the type of restoration, the need for preparatory procedures such as bone grafting, and the complexity of the surgical anatomy. A single implant with crown typically ranges from $3,000 to $6,000+ nationally, though individual cases may fall outside that range.

A comprehensive consultation with CBCT imaging allows our periodontists to provide you with an accurate estimate. Cost transparency is part of how we approach treatment planning at our Miami practice.

It’s our job to keep you safe and comfortable during treatment. Implant placement is performed under local anesthesia, with sedation options available based on your preference. Postoperative discomfort is usually managed with prescribed or over-the-counter medication. Most patients find recovery manageable and return to normal activity within a few days.

If you notice an increase in pain or swelling after the first few days, please give us a call. We’re here to answer all your questions and get you in quickly for a post-op checkup, if needed.
