DENTAL ANXIETY IS A COMMON CONCERN

Proper and routine oral care is necessary for maintaining healthy teeth and gums, but about 40 million Americans avoid the dentist due to fear or anxiety*. While we do offer calming sedation options like nitrous oxide, oral sedation, or simply local anesthesia, some patients need a stronger alternative to help them feel relaxed and stress-free during appointments. We proudly offer IV (intravenous) sedation dentistry, a safe and effective option for patients with more severe dental anxiety.

HOW IV SEDATION WORKS

IV sedation is administered intravenously into the bloodstream, which allows patients to be semi-awake and conscious enough to respond to questions and commands while being in an all-encompassing state of relaxation. In addition, dosage is adjusted based on personal needs and the type of procedure so the most accurate level of sedation can be administered the entire time. Many times, patients with dental anxiety who elect to receive IV sedation report having a very positive experience during their procedure and feel happy and confident in their dental experiences moving forward.

IV SEDATION BENEFITS

CARE FROM AN IV SEDATION CERTIFIED DENTIST

Dentists who wish to offer IV sedation at their practice must first undergo formal hands-on training before receiving their certification. In addition, the office must be properly equipped and staff trained to meet permit standards. Dr. Bradley Ross is certified to administer conscious IV sedation and is skilled at providing patients with the sedation levels they need to feel calm and relaxed.

When patients feel comfortable enough in the dental chair, they can more easily receive the dental health care they need. We also partner with a trained anesthesiologist for patients requiring deeper sedation.
